Document Generation Overview

With Document Generation, users can build templates with Drive Connect’s Template Builder and generate those templates leveraging merged Salesforce data into Google Docs. This eliminates user error caused by miskeying data or copying and pasting incorrect information and creates accurate and robust documentation efficiently without leaving Salesforce.

How it works

Document Generation

Drive Connect’s Drive Links component supports generating Google Docs from Salesforce record data. The Drive Connect Template Builder provides an easy-to-use authoring environment to build and test merge templates from within Salesforce.


The Drive Links component allows users to link Drive files to Salesforce records (1) by using the (2) Google Picker to create a (3) new File in Drive from a Drive Connect Template. Upon generating the file, their name and URL is saved back to Salesforce as a Content Version record.


To get started, ensure to create or designate a root templates folder in order to create templates and generate new files.
